"Weekly car news " is a recap of some of the major stories in Taiwan car market last week.

1ˢᵗ September 2025

●August new car sales figures were released, with a total market volume of 29,450 units. Compared to July, sales dropped significantly by 17%, but still represented a slight year-on-year growth of 0.2%.

●Audi Taiwan launched the pre-sale of the all-new Audi A6 e-tron series, with variants and pre-order prices as follows: A6 Sportback e-tron (from NT$2.75 million), A6 Avant e-tron (from NT$2.85 million), A6 Sportback e-tron performance (from NT$3.35 million), A6 Avant e-tron performance (from NT$3.45 million), S6 Sportback e-tron (from NT$4.85 million), and S6 Avant e-tron (from NT$4.95 million).

●Mercedes-Benz Taiwan officially launched the 2025/26 Mercedes-Benz GLB lineup, with variants and suggested retail prices as follows: GLB 180 Star Chaser Edition (from NT$2.01 million), GLB 200 Star Chaser Edition (from NT$2.28 million), and Mercedes-AMG GLB 35 4MATIC Evo Edition (from NT$3.08 million).

●Mercedes-Benz Taiwan officially launched the 2025/26 Mercedes-AMG GLC lineup, with variants and suggested retail prices as follows: Mercedes-AMG GLC 43 4MATIC (from NT$4.01 million), Mercedes-AMG GLC 43 4MATIC Coupé (from NT$4.13 million), and Mercedes-AMG GLC 63 S E PERFORMANCE Coupé (from NT$6.23 million).

●Mercedes-Benz Taiwan officially launched the 2025/26 Mercedes-Benz V-Class lineup, with variants and suggested retail prices as follows: Vito Tourer (from NT$2.29 million), V220d AVA (from NT$2.63 million), V250d AVA (from NT$2.87 million), and V250d EXCLUSIVE (from NT$3.6 million).

●Mercedes-Benz Taiwan officially launched the 2025/26 Mercedes-AMG SL 43, with a suggested retail price starting at NT$6.76 million.

●Hotai Motor announced that the Toyota GAZOO Racing Corolla Cup 2025 final round will be held from 27ᵗʰ to 28ᵗʰ September at Lihpao International Circuit in Taichung.

2ⁿᵈ September 2025

●Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles Taiwan officially unveiled the VWCV ID. Buzz GTX, priced from NT$2.698 million for the single-tone version and from NT$2.856 million for the dual-tone version. Customers taking delivery before the end of October can upgrade to the dual-tone version at no extra cost.

●Modena Motori Taiwan officially launched the Ferrari 296 Speciale, with a suggested retail price starting at NT$23.85 million.

●Pan German Motors officially launched the 2026 BMW i5 lineup, with variants and suggested retail prices as follows: eDrive40 M Sport (from NT$3.29 million), M60 xDrive (from NT$4.85 million), eDrive40 Touring M Sport (from NT$3.39 million), and M60 xDrive Touring (from NT$4.95 million).

●Tesla Taiwan announced that deliveries of the facelifted Tesla Model Y will surpass 5,500 units by the end of this quarter.

3ʳᵈ September 2025

●Nanyang Industries officially launched the Hyundai Staria Van and Staria Camper, with suggested retail prices starting from NT$1.3 million and NT$1.628 million respectively.

4ᵗʰ September 2025

●Ou Ji Motors announced that the first batch of Opel Combo vehicles is expected to begin deliveries at the end of October.

5ᵗʰ September 2025

●The President officially promulgated the amendment to Article 12-5 of the Commodity Tax Act, passed by the Legislative Yuan on 29ᵗʰ August. The amendment stipulates that newly purchased passenger vehicles with an engine displacement of 2,000cc or below, upon registration of new license plates, will enjoy a NT$50,000 reduction in commodity tax. Combined with the existing "trade-in" incentive, the maximum reduction can reach NT$100,000. This preferential policy has been extended until 31ˢᵗ December 2030.

●Volvo Car Taiwan officially launched the second facelift of the second-generation Volvo XC90. The lineup and suggested retail prices are as follows: B5 Plus (from NT$2.956 million), B5 Ultra (from NT$3.371 million), and T8 Ultra (from NT$3.776 million).
